The Dance world lost yet another one of their great Icons (November 28, 2021), Professional Latin Champion 1969-71 Rudolf (Rudi Trautz). Here some statements by prominent fellow professionals, organisations and his children Nina and Nikolas.

Rest in Peace – Rudi Trautz – Extraordinary Human Being, Dancer, Diplomat, Father & Grandfather
It is with unending and immense sadness, that we have to let you know of the passing of Mr. Rudi Trautz, Vice-President & Chief Examiner of the World Dance Council and the most decorated German Dancer in the history of dance.Rudi was an extraordinary human being, kind, fair, most intelligent, the ultimate competitor and yet the kindest person we all had the pleasure of knowing.
He was the most successful German dancer of all times Rudi Trautz won the World Championship title in Latin four times in a row, and was European Champion eight times and German Champion 21 times.
For this outstanding achievement he was awarded the German Federal Cross of Merit as well as many international Awards in the World of Dance. His wife Martina once described him as the “Beckenbauer” of Ballroom Dancing. Originally, Trautz wanted to be an actor. He connected the enthusiasm for the artistic with his father, who was an opera singer.
Acting training was to expensive after the war
But acting training after the war was not possible for Rudi. Instead, he discovered his enthusiasm for dance during a dance class at his school. “I noticed immediately that I want to do that,” he once remarked. The result was that everything he tackled afterwards was only subordinate to one goal: to dance. The result was an unprecedented career.He passed on his love for dance to his daughter Nina, who is a professional dancer and is currently asserting herself in the dance world.Rudi’s passing is also an immense loss for the entire World of Dance. He was a statesman and diplomat and universally liked and respected.
The council is grieving
Indeed, the WDC President and his fellow Vice-Presidents as well as all officers and employees of the of the Council are grieving this loss and almost unable to express the sadness they feel.
Rudi leaves his loving wife Martina, children Nina & Nicholas as well as his 2 grandchildren and we are sure that the entire dance world will join the WDC President Mr Donnie Burns MBE and the Board of Directors in expressing their sincerest condolences to the family and asking all to celebrate the life and achievements of Rudi in a manner he would have wished.……With pride, strength, and kindness in abundance.

“Such sad news to hear that Rudi Trautz has passed away. Fay and I have many memories of competing against Rudi And his partner Metchild on the International scene in the 1960,s and early 70,s. Rudi was a dedicated and elegant competitor admired all over the world and feared by many of his fellow competitors.
Upon retiring it did not take Rudi Trautz very long to establish himself as an ambassador and administrator both in Germany and the international governing body passing on his ideas and principles, a duty he held up to his untimely passing. I now cherish the few chats we had during the time he was launching his new book. I wrote an appreciation of his wonderful book and received an autographed copy and personal message which will be cherished. We only have memories now but they are still vivid. Our love and thoughts go out to Rudi’s family.”

“Mit großer Bestürzung und tiefer Trauer beklagen wir den Verlust einer der ganz großen Persönlichkeiten der internationalen Tanzszene und dem erfolgreichsten Tanzsportler Deutschlands, Rudi Trautz.
“Noch vor 14 Tagen haben viele von uns Rudi bei den Deutschen Meisterschaften in Bonn getroffen. Wie immer begegnete er uns sehr freundlich, mit positiver Kraft und Energie, und verfolgte mit großer Freude und Begeisterung die Leistungen der Turnierpaare.
Rudi Trautz gewann in den lateinamerikanischen Tänzen je viermal den Weltmeistertitel und die British Open in Blackpool. Das macht ihn schon zu einer Tanzsportlegende – es kommen aber noch 22 Deutsche Meistertitel, 8 Titel bei Europameisterschaften, sowie je 3 Siege bei United Kingdom Championships und World-Cup hinzu.
“Neben vielen internationalen Auszeichnungen wurde ihm auch von der Bundesrepublik Deutschland das Bundesverdienstkreuz am Bande verliehen.Nach seiner aktiven Tanzsportkarriere gab Rudi sein enormes Wissen um Tanztechnik, Musikalität und Dynamik mit großer Energie an unzählige Tanzsportler weiter und formte davon viele zu Champions.
“Als Funktionär war er von 1973 bis zur Gründung des Deutschen Professional Tanzsportverbandes e. V. (DPV) im Jahre 1991 Leiter des Professional Turnieramtes (PTA) im ADTV. Im DPV war er dann Vizepräsident und Ehrenmitglied, bis zuletzt auch Vizepräsident im World Dance Council. Rudi konnte seine Meinung mit großer Kraft vertreten, ließ sich aber auch durch gute Argumente überzeugen. Alles aus Liebe zum Tanzen und zum Wohle des Tanzsports. Jetzt hat er den kurzen Kampf verloren, wir können es nicht begreifen.
Rudi Trautz Tod ist ein großer Verlust
für den deutschen und internationalen Tanzsport, in der gesamten Tanzwelt ist die Bestürzung groß. Wir alle werden seine Arbeit und seinen Rat sehr vermissen. Unser aufrichtiges Beileid richtet sich an seine liebevolle Frau Martina, seiner Tochter Nina und seinem Sohn Nikolas mit Familie und alle, die ihm eng verbunden waren. Lieber Rudi, der DPV und die gesamte Tanzwelt wird Dich sehr vermissen!”

“Ich kann es immer noch nicht fassen
Am Sonntag wurde mein Vater nach einer kurzen aber heftigen covid Erkrankung in den Himmel geschickt. Unsere Familie, seine Freunde und die Tanzsportwelt stehen immer noch unter Schock. Wie kann ein so großes menschliches Energiebündel innerhalb von wenigen Tagen seinen Liebenden aus den Händen gerissen werden? Und dann dieser überwältigende Ansturm von Beileid und Anteilnahme aus allen Teilen der Erde für den wir sehr dankbar sind….
Das alles zu realisieren und zu verarbeiten wird wohl noch etwas dauern. Ich hab lange überlegt ob ich das hier auf meiner NR4 Seite posten möchte. Aber mein Vater war immer einer der größten Befürworter meiner Musik, deshalb möchte ich ihm auch hier einen für mich sehr wichtigen Platz frei halten.Für den 17. Dezember, 4 Tage vor dem 85. Geburtstag meines Vaters war die Veröffentlichung meines neuen Songs „Alles wird gut“ geplant.
Keinen Kopf für promo
Auch wenn ich, wie ihr euch denken könnt, momentan eigentlich keinen Kopf für promo oder Video hab, hat er mich bezgl meiner Musik anscheinend auch noch in seinen letzten Momenten ermutigt und unterstützt. Ich hab das Gefühl er hätte gewollt dass ich diesen Song jetzt rausbringe: Warum?
Es war das Zimmer mit der Nr. 17 in der Corona-Intensivstation, in dem ich mich von meinem Dad verabschiedete. Vor der Uniklinik musste ich mich erstmal auf die nächste Bank setzen. Die gleiche Bank auf der ich saß nach der Geburt meiner Tochter. Den Blick nach unten gerichtet nahm ich unfreiwillig an einem Gespräch neben mir teil. Eine Frau sagte zu ihrem Angehörigen: ich weiß du hast kein Bock mehr aber du musst dir immer denken: „Alles wird gut“…..
Mein Dad war der beste Vater den man sich wünschen kann. Bis zu seinem letzten Atemzug versuchte er mich noch zu motivieren obwohl er nicht mal mehr verbal dazu im Stande war. Ich hoffe das diese Welt ein Stück seiner guten Energie behalten hat. Wir könnten sie jetzt echt gut brauchen! Man denkt immer das Schicksal wird einen schon verschonen und die Toleranz wächst mit dem Abstand zum Problem. Auch deswegen schreibe ich diesen Beitrag. Passt auf euch auf und seid lieb zu einander. Solche Erfahrungen wünsche ich wirklich niemanden”
Nina Trautz: “Today I had to say goodbye to my father 
he didn’t have to suffer from pain and fell asleep very peacefully holding my hand 
I have no words I love you endlessly and you were the best father one can imagine I love you forever.”
I receive so many messages from all over the world and that shows me just even more how many hearts my father touched and how many souls he inspired
