Victor Silvester was instrumental in the development of British social ballroom dancing on many levels. He was one of the first recorded World champions, developing the strict tempo music that helped dancers at the time “work out” the technique. He also co-founded the Ballroom Committee of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing that codified the theory and practice of ballroom dance.
